Application to join the UK-TF section.

Before you apply please read through the following requirements, we review each and every application and discuss with existing members of the team. Please take a moment to read this carefully and if you agree submit your agreement to the TF team.

Please remember you are applying to administrate and help improve our service, this means playing on our servers, looking after the public and taking calls for help.

If you do not wish to perform tasks like this and simply wish to have the power to kick people then please do not apply.

Requirements

1) Sense of Humour

This is compulsory, if you don't have one then don't bother reading beyond this point.

Successful applicants will be easy going individuals who are calm under pressure and able to interact easily with existing members of the admin team and community members.

There is always time for serious discussion and movement for improvement but for the best we like to have a laugh and not always play to win, it’s important you have a sense of humour and enjoy a laugh.

2) Forums

Our public forums are for the improvement and enjoyment of our community members,

We treat everyone’s opinion seriously however like every forum disagreements always happen and we expect admins to act in a mature and professional behaviour when required and help promote the usage of the public forums.

We strive to move away from the flame filled forums where people are always back chatting and taking topics off subject and as such have always run our public forums this way.

Likewise with our admin forums we are talking together off the level with the sole aim of improving our service, we don’t tolerate internal bickering or this type of behaviour at all, the admin forums are for chatter, fun and improvement to our services, we expect all admins to participate in our admin forums especially ideally viewing and taking part at least 2/3 times a week but ideally checking it daily.

Access will be provided after applications are reviewed and general introduction periods are completed.

3) IRC channel

All admins are required to attend the #UK-TF IRC channel and help where needed, this channel can be found on quakenet.

This is inclusive of taking “admin_needed” calls and joining a server to assist, sometimes even you may be required to drop out of a game to help if no one else is available.

IF you are not prepared to do this on any level then do not apply, applying to administrate is more than just playing on a server and kicking the odd person.

We also have an admin only room and again usage of this is required.

4) Community Building

Admin are requested to encourage people who play on our servers to participate on the public forum and join IRC, as well as bringing the attention of our servers to those who are not yet aware of them.

5) Public servers

Administration of the public servers is done via admin tools directly on the servers, for TFC this would be adminmod or amxx access, for TF2 either sourcemod or beetlesmod.

Basic training on how to use these tools will be provided, however it requires some knowledge of using the HL1 and HL2 consoles.

Access to the admin tools are provided after training and once the applicant has read our admin wiki.

6) Games supported

You are required to have either TFC or TF2 ideally both games, and be willing to join servers to assist when needed.

7) Admin Conduct

As an admin your job is to make the server a better place to play on, We have a detailed admin wiki knowledge base along with our public server rules and guidelines which we require admins to enforce.

We believe in having fun and not being so serious, games were meant to entertain 

Please note admin actions and chat on the servers are logged, these logs are monitored. Any admin found to be abusing their position and who is acting in a manner deemed unsuitable will have their admin status revoked.

We expect all admin to set an example when on the server, as a representative of UK-TF you will be expected to treat all players fairly, running around calling people n00bs will not be tolerated. Never kick unnecessarily. Make sure you are justified in giving the punishment before you do, all bans should be backed with proof of the offence, this means you take a demo and in some cases a condump of the offence before you apply punishment. Only use your powers only when you need to, when you join a server you should just play to have fun and only act if you must.

The server rules can be found at: TF2 Rules TFC Rules please read them and make sure you are familiar with them.

In addition if you apply to admin our servers we will generally expect that you can take the time to get some game hours in on the servers. Its pointless applying to admin if you are not on the server to actually administrate!!! We run reports at set times over the year to ensure we have enough active admins to cover our servers.

Please note that if you are unable to admin anymore it is appreciated that you can notify us in advance rather than just leaving. This means we can replace missing admins much quicker rather than leaving the team under supported.

Likewise if you require weeks or months off we will usually hold your slot open for you until you notify us (or we don’t hear from beyond that period of time!). However it works both ways, if you don’t tell us and leave us in limbo we are less likely to welcome you back in future.

Access to the admin wiki, forums, commands etc will be provided after approval of admins.

We will strive to notify all applicants within 2 weeks if they have succeed or not.

Age

We specifically only recruit admins 18 and above, this is not to say that people under 18 would not be considered but because our admins enjoy a bit of banter and a laugh in an adult manner its difficult to cater for people younger. Plus experience tells us that older individuals tend to act in the more calm and mature method of administration that has become a trademark of our admin teams past and present.

By signing this agreement you are stating that you accept and will follow all the conditions listed here and that you are over the 18 years of age.

- If you cannot meet the above requirements you application will be rejected.

- By proceeding with your application you are agreeing to the above requirements.

- By agreeing to this form you are also agreeing to not disclose private and confidential discussions, documents and other resources provided by the UK-TF admin areas or discussions either in private irc channels or messages.

- Admins are not permitted to join rival GSP's whilst still a member of the UK-TF admin team. Whilst we are no longer a GSP we are still hosted by Jolt’s networks and as such we reserve the right to respect their privacy and uphold this until such time as this changes (which will then be under review).

** This does not effect clans or your right to play anywhere and any servers, admins may clan with whoever they like providing UK-TF matters are kept private.

Breaking these rules or disclosing information outside the current UK-TF team will result in an immediate sacking and perm ban on all UK-TF servers.
